Irene has nearly 30yrs experience in mindfulness and meditation and is also a qualified psychologist. She has been running many courses each year at Yoga & Beyond and the feedback has been excellent.
With stress, anxiety and depression being the major cause of illness and unhappiness in the 21st Century , knowing how to meditate is a tool everyone must have.
Irene is also available for private sessions by appointment.

These 3 week INTERMEDIATE courses are intended for people who have done a meditation course before and want to extend their skills or hone them to suite their own particular needs.
Once the skill of medititating is learnt it can used in many ways to calm the mind, improve focus, deal with unresolved issues, make decisions and more .Let Irene teach you how.

These 5 week Level 2 meditation courses are perfect for you if you have been meditating regularly or have done a few meditation courses before. They will teach you to take your meditation DEEPER.Regular DEEP meditation creates permanent changes in the structure of the brain.When you strengthen your ability to train the mind the changes are life changing. You will become more resilient and more in control. You will be amazed AT HOW WELL YOU FOCUS AND HOW QUICKLY YOU CAN CALM DOWN.
Meditation for Chronic Pain
Courses Cost: $75
Times: Saturdays 1:30- 3:30pm

This course runs over two sessions.
It is for ANYONE who is sick and tired of being in chronic pain.
Meditation is a powerful tool for
breaking the cycle of chronic pain.
You will learn to create chemical changes in the brain and rewire you pain receptor habit.

This 5 week course will teach you how to use meditation as your medicine AND your preventative for :- stress, anxiety and worry. Irene will also use psychology techniques to help you reduce , manage or even eliminate the stress and anxiety you are experiencing. Happiness begins in he mind -therefore being aware of your unhelpful thinking and being able to do something about it is a very powerful !
Meditation for Relaxing
4 week Course Cost: $75
Times: Tuesdays 7 - 8:15pm

This 4 week course is great for people who experience frequent problems with tension or have many responsibilities and find it hard to turn off and relax. This tension can cause neck problems, muscle tightness , headaches, migranes, jaw tension, digestive disorders and difficulty sleeping. Irene will teach you how to use meditation to relax . Your body can learn to relax again and your mind can learn to turn off and stop racing. Learn the techniques to do this yourself. You will leave each session feeling VERY relaxed :)

isn't so mysterious after all. Neuroscientists have found that meditators shift their brain
activity to different areas of the cortex - brain waves in the stress-prone right frontal cortex move to the calmer left frontal cortex. This mental shift decreases the negative effects of stress
, mild depression and anxiety. There is also less activity in the amygdala, where the brain processes fear

What researchers at Harvard Medical School discovered is that, in long-term practitioners of relaxation methods such as yoga and meditation, far more ''disease-fighting genes'' were active, compared to those who practised no form of relaxation.
In particular, they found genes that protect from disorders such as pain, infertility, high blood pressure and even rheumatoid arthritis were switched on. The changes, say the researchers, were induced by what they call ''the relaxation effect'', a phenomenon that could be just as powerful as any medical drug but without the side effects.
''We found a range of disease-fighting genes were active in the relaxation practitioners that were not active in the control group,'' Dr Herbert Benson, associate professor of medicine at Harvard Medical School, who led the research, says.
